1996 Toyota works driver

Celica GT-Four, co-driver Denis Giraudet, European Champion

Armin Schwarz contests six rounds of the European Championship with the Celica GT-Four. With four wins, a second and a third place, he secures the European Championship title. Before entering the European Championship campaign, Schwarz contests the Rally Monte Carlo, which doesn‘t count as a WRC round in 1996, to claim third. His final rally of the year also yields pleasing results: Victory at the RAC Rally, also without WRC status that year. Armin summarises the season: “That was a fantastic year even though the start was not easy. I ran around like a mad man trying to put this schedule together. So it was particularly satisfying for me that we did exactly what we told everyone we would do.“
