2006

Together with Raimund Baumschlager he concentrated on his job as manager of the Red Bull Rally team in 2006, provided RTL-TV with his expertise and worked on his new and exciting challenge: to contest the Baja 1000 in southern California with a ca. 700+ hp Class 1 Unlimited Buggy run by the All German Motorsports team.

After a throughly professional preparation with Martin Christensen and his squad, the real test came mid-November 2006: Armin’s first start at the Baja 1000. Armin drove the first stint: “It is incredible how much these buggies can withstand at race speed. A WRC car would have been long gone. It's flat-tack from the first minute here. By the end of my stint we were in the lead and I honestly can't say when I last had so much fun driving.“

When his team mate Bret Hartmann had to cross deep water, the electronics got a drowning – signalling the end of the German-American team's first sensational debut. But for Armin one thing was clear: He would be back in 2007.
