The final year for Armin Schwarz in the WRC was anything but calm and introspective. 15 WRC rounds made up the calendar. At the second rally in Mexico – marking Armin's premiere in the central American country – the comparatively small team entered the Evo-generation Fabia WRC and secured a commendable ninth place. Further top ten results in New Zealand and Australia contributed to the overall picture. And with eleventh at the “Grand Prix of Finland“ the rally world took note.
A number of small problems, but also a not-so-minor one - a stuck throttle pedal at the Monte causing a nasty accident – an electrical defect in Greece, engine damage in Germany and other technically-based retirements prevented further good results. In hindsight, Armin Schwarz says: “It was an exciting and intensive year that I wouldn't have wanted to miss. And I can tell you that I gave everything as a driver right up until the last WRC kilometre. For this reason I could retire without too much nostalgia.“
