The first season with the Hyundai works team finishes with a most gratifying fourth overall for Hyundai in the world manufacturers championship. Armin regards this as: “A fantastic result considering the material and personnel input.“ Seventh at the ultra-tough Cyprus Rally, ninth in Greece and tenth in New Zealand are offset by eight retirements, five of which are caused by technical trouble. For Armin‘s health the year is not without problems: Hitting a tree sideways at the German Rally leaves him with broken ribs. And at the WRC final in England his car catches fire. The team doctor forbids Schwarz to compete due to smoke poisoning.
